First Game

Today was the Tornadoes first game. It was a disaster.

So the game started out pretty good. We played the Rebels and they were the black team. We are purple. And our socks are tye die purple which sounds pretty stupid but they actually look good. Anyhow we were winning at the half. Mom brought us orange slices and purple Gatorade, which everyone loved because all the other moms only bring water when it is their turn to bring stuff for the team. Coach gave us a pretty good pep talk about continuing to play our hardest and work as a team.
I was having a good game (if I don't say so myself) and actually stopped one of their best players from scoring on a break away by catching up to her before she could reach the goal line (that's a line that comes out around the goal where the goalie can only use her hands). Everyone was cheering for me once I stopped her and were giving me high fives, it felt really good.

With about 15 minutes left in the game, the Rebels had caught up and the score was 3-3. It was down to the last 5 minutes and a girl named Lydia who goes to Fiske elementary slide tackled me!! Can you believe that? I mean what does she think this is, the World Cup? But anyhow the ref blew her whistle and gave me a penalty kick. It when you put the ball on the other teams goal line and kick it to try to make a goal. I knew that this was my chance to win the game. Everyone wished me luck and cheered me on, and I could hear my mom and Max cheering from the side line.

I missed. And a minute later they scored a goal and won the game.

  1. Don't get discouraged. In the grand scheme of things, one game is nothing. Take this experience, learn from it, and you will do better next time. Don't believe me, believe in yourself.
